It's Never Too Late

It's never too late to do something that you have always dreamed of doing. I have always had a tremendous fear of water, I am not sure if this is because I didn't know how to swim or if I didn't learn to swim because of my fear. As an adult I always wanted to learn to swim, but raising a family and life put swimming on the back burner. Now in my retirement I have the time and have found the courage to start taking lessons. I started going to the pool 3 months ago with an encouraging friend who is helping me to overcome my fear of having my face in the water, It took me many times in the water to get my face wet! Since then I have learned to tread water, to float, I can back stroke and yes it needs work, but I can do it! With a lot of determination I have learned so much in such a short time. I have started swim lessons, tonight is lesson number 5. It's exciting and invigorating to finally, after all these years, to just "DO IT".
Until Next Time

Hey thanks for the informative post, Swimming classes should be something that a person takes up when young. Well I guess an adult can also take up swimming lessons. Never too young to try!

I'm shy around water also so I know what you mean, however, last summer I FINALLY learned to backswim, something I NEVER thought I would! I'm so proud now. And it's fun too, plus helps the fibromyalgia...

Congratulations on having the courage to overcome your fears. It takes a lot to "just do it" when you are fighting your own fear.
