Chain Maille Something New For Me

This is my first attempt at making an item with chain maille. I chose a very simple pattern for my first piece. Now I had to learn how to make my own jump rings, I used the link here . That's right I never made my own jump rings before! The larger rings measure 10 mm, they are made using 14 k gold filled twisted wire, the smaller rings are 4 mm I used argentium sterling silver twisted wire. I really did enjoy this project and look forward to making more chain maille. I handcrafted the toggle clasp for the bracelet. Wrapping and cutting the jump rings is time consuming but assembling the bracelet goes pretty quickly.
This pattern is called the Helm/Parallel Chain click on the link to view.
Here is a link to a really great site to learn some of the different chain maille weaves.

Here are the matching earrings, finished!

This is absolutely gorgeous!
I've wanted to try chain mail, but was always intimidated...
Maybe I'll give it a shot, if mine can look anything like this one, I'll be happy!

So the bug bit ya??!! Watch out! Chainmaille is a deep dark hole from which you may never emerge.

Seriously, welcome to the club. One of the leading chainmaille artisans who co-authored a popular book is on Etsy and he has a lot of good patterns listed. Dylon Whyte ... you may want to check out his shop.

Looks great for your first piece -- I know this technique must be very time consuming and needs loads of patience -- hats off to you!

that is lovely - I love chainmaille and would love to try it - even bought a kit a couple years ago to make a bracelet - just haven't had the time.

I really like the rings made from the twisted wire. That gives it so much more depth.

Good job for your first time!!
