I didn't want to spend a lot of money on making display holders for my jewelry so here are a couple that I came up with.
This is a bracelet holder but I have just extended the center dowel to whatever length I wanted and I have made some for necklace holders as well. You will need:
1 inch dowel (If you can get a softer wood that is preferable)
3/8 inch dowel
Piece of 1 x 4" board for the base
A drill and a 3/8" bit
A small drill bit for the size of screw you use
1 screw
piece of felt
I cut my dowel to 6 1/2 inches. For my necklace holders I cut my dowel to 13 inches. The 3/8 dowel is cut 10 inches. Cut it longer if you want to hang a lot of jewelry on one display holder. Make a mark 3/4" from the top of the 1" dowel. Turn the dowel 1/4 turn and make a mark 1 1/2" from the top for the other dowel. Make sure that these marks are centered. Now drill your holes through the dowel keeping your drill very straight, If your drill goes in a little crooked, especially in the up and down position, then your cross dowels will not be level. If your hanger dowels end up being not too level, cut them shorter and it won't be so noticeable.
For the base:
The board for the base is a 1 x 4" board that I cut to 5 inches long.
On the bottom side of the 1 x 4 board make a pencil mark from diagonal corners to find the center of your board. Drill a hole through the board with a drill bit to match the size of screw that you choose. Find the center in the bottom end of your 1" dowel and drill a hole into it for the screw as well. I then take a larger bit and drill out the start of the hole in the board, to be able to counter sink your screw head, so that your display is not a little rocky with a screw head sticking out. Put it together and spray paint it to the color of your choice. I also added a gold sparkle spray paint to mine. I glued some flat rocks to the ends of my 3/8" dowels to prevent my jewelry from slipping off. Your final step is to glue a piece of felt onto the bottom of the 1 x 4" board. I used craft glue, carpenters glue would work as well. When the glue is dry then trim the felt around the board. This is certainly an easy and cost effective display project. Very easy to make and attractive on your table at your showing.
If you didn't glue stop ends onto the ends of your 3/8" dowel you could take the dowels out of the stand which would make them more compact for transportation to your showing venue.
Here is another one! This is a wire CD holder that I purchased at Value Village for $1.99, I had a vision!

I bent the two ends of the wire rack to open past center and will use it for an earring and pendant holder. This is what it looks like now. I am pleased a punch! I put my earrings on holder cards, the cards fit in between the wires just perfectly to be pressure held tightly in place. How easy is this one!

Way to go Jean9. Doing it yourself surely saved you big bucks. You did a terrific job, too.
Have a great weekend
Why aren't you just the creative one!
Those are great! One thing we did at my shop was take these skinny shudders for a window (I bought a stack of 40 or more and all different sizes for 5 bucks at a flea mkt). Anyway, we took two of the same size and hinged them together and one pair of earrings fits perfectly on either side of the bar that goes down the middle to open and close the shudder. We set in on the counter V shaped to stand up. It's really cute since our store is western.
have a great weekend girl!
You are very creative. Thanks for thanks for the instructions.
Awesome ingenuity! I'd have never thought of using the CD rack like that! You're so clever! :)
wow! You are one of those really creative people that I wish that I was. Great ideas!
Those are both great ideas and you saved yourself a bunch of money! Way to go!
